The detailed version

As the host of the Future Paths community, we at Montgomery Software maintain the Community Guidelines. However, we are constantly seeking input from all members of the community in order to ensure that the Guidelines are always current in the Community’s thinking. If you would like to share your thoughts with us, please contact us.

Content on Future Paths is supposed to be about helping people to find their future career path by those with experience sharing with those who do not have experience so that those without experience can make more informed choices in their life. All content on Future Paths should be directed to that end. That is, if you are helping people to find their future career path, then your content is probably suitable. If you are doing something else, then your content is probably not suitable.

If you include content which is false or misleading that does not help people to make informed choices. Therefore, that content is not suitable on Future Paths.

If you include content that is political in nature, such as referring to any political party in a favorable or unfavorable way, is not suitable on Future Paths. If you are posting about a job in politics, you can certainly share information which is necessary to do your job. For example, if you are in the US and you work for the Republican Party, you can refer to the challenges that exist in collaborating with other parties. However, you should not paint the Republican Party, or any other party, in a positive or negative light.

Any content which is sexually explicity, contains nudity, contains graphic violence, or the type of content which generally falls into the “not safe for work” category is not suitable for Future Paths specially because Future Paths is all about helping people find their future work. So, content which is not safe or not suitable for work does not belong here.

Any content which is insulting, degrading, bullying, hate speech, abusive, or harmful to others does not belong here. You can share your opinions about what you do or do not like about your job but you should not be insulting individuals or groups. If you feel you need to share your negative opinions about any individuals or group, please find another place to do that.

Any content which encourages users to do something harmful to themselves or others is not suitable for Future Paths. Even if you work in a job where you need to harm yourself, and even if you think this is a perfectly good job, that content should not be shared on Future Paths. The goal of this community is to help, not to harm.

Any content which you do not have the right to share should not be shared. This could include legally protected information. For example, if you work on a secret project inside your company you should not be sharing any information about that project here. Also, any copyrighted work by others should not be shared here, except where considered Fair Use, such as small quotes.

Any content which is generated by a computer, including Gen AI (generative artificial intelligence), is acceptable but if it is posted on your account then you are responsible for all aspects of it. You should not lead users to believe that something created by Gen AI was created by you.

Any content which is commerical in nature, for example an ad for an external website, is not suitable on Future Paths. You are allowed to mention commercial sites but you should not be posting an ad or appear to be promoting anything regardless of whether or not you receive a benefit from such promotion.

You are allowed to include a link where you will receive an affiliate fee, but any benefit you receive must be disclosed immediately before or after that link. That is, the user must be aware of any benefit you may receive if the user follows that link. For example, if you are a podcaster, you might mention the importance of a good quality microphone and you might link to a microphone you recommend using an Amazon affiliate link. However, you must disclose what commission (or other benefit) you would receive if the user follows your advice.

Any user who can see a piece of content can report that content as violating the Community Guidelines. However, if a user is seen to be abusing this reporting system, that user may have their account removed in order to maintain a healthy Community.
