Community rules
These rules explain and add to the acceptable-use section of our Terms. They do not replace the Terms.
The short version
- Content on FuturePaths is for helping people find their future career path. People with experience share it so that people without experience can make better-informed choices.
- Anything that does not help people find their future career path does not belong here.
- Do not post commercial content such as spam or ads.
- Do not post content that is false or misleading.
- Do not post political content.
- Do not post nudity or sexually explicit content.
- Do not post content that attacks, insults or harms others. You are allowed to share what you do not like about your job.
- Do not post content you have no right to share, or confidential or legally protected information.
- Penalties range from having your content removed to having your account removed.
- Reporting is for real violations. If you report something that clearly does not break these rules, you may face penalties yourself, including a frozen account.

Stay on topic
Content on FuturePaths is for helping people find their future career path, with people who have experience sharing it with people who do not. If you are helping people find their future career path, your content is probably suitable. If you are doing something else, it is probably not.
No false or misleading content
False or misleading content does not help people make informed choices, so it is not suitable on FuturePaths.
No political content
Political content, such as referring to any political party in a favorable or unfavorable way, is not suitable on FuturePaths. If you post about a job in politics, you can share information that is necessary to explain the job, such as the challenges of working with other parties. Do not paint any party in a positive or negative light.
No nudity or explicit content
Content that is sexually explicit, contains nudity or graphic violence, or is generally "not safe for work" does not belong here. FuturePaths is about finding future work, so content that is not suitable for work is not suitable for FuturePaths.
Respect others
Content that is insulting, degrading, bullying, hateful, abusive or harmful to others does not belong here. You can share what you like and do not like about your job, but do not insult individuals or groups. If you need to share negative opinions about a person or group, please find another place to do that.
Do not encourage harm
Content that encourages people to do something harmful to themselves or others is not suitable, even if your job involves that kind of risk and you think it is a good job. The goal of this community is to help, not to harm.
Only share what you have the right to share
Do not share content you do not have the right to share. That includes legally protected information. For example, if you work on a secret project, do not share anything about it here. Do not share other people's copyrighted work either, except where it counts as fair use, such as a small quote.
AI-generated content
Content generated by a computer, including generative AI, is acceptable. If it is posted on your account, you are responsible for every aspect of it. Do not lead people to believe that something created by AI was created by you.
Commercial content and affiliate links
Commercial content, such as an ad for an outside website, is not suitable on FuturePaths. You may mention commercial sites, but do not post an ad or appear to promote anything, whether or not you receive a benefit.
You may include a link that earns you an affiliate fee, but you must disclose any benefit immediately before or after the link, so people know what you may receive if they follow it. For example, a podcaster who recommends a microphone through an affiliate link must say what commission or other benefit they would receive.
Reporting and penalties
If you are signed in, you can report a video, blog post or comment you can see, except your own, by choosing Report and a reason. We record every report and we will follow up. Reviewers decide what to do. Penalties range from removing content to suspending or closing an account.
Reporting something that clearly does not break these rules can lead to penalties for the person reporting, including a frozen account.
